MicrosoftAPI Review Habits Microsoft-Scale Platform Teams Use to Prevent Long-Term Friction
Versioning, naming, auth, and operational constraints all get harder after adoption. These are the review habits that keep platform APIs coherent over time.

Platform APIs live longer than most internal project assumptions. Once clients integrate them, every unclear field name, vague enum, or missing pagination policy becomes a long-tail maintenance tax.
Useful API reviews do not just ask whether the endpoint works. They ask whether the shape is understandable, whether failure is explicit, and whether the contract can evolve without breaking clients.
A mature design review also checks the operational side: rate limits, timeouts, observability, and who owns the API when downstream consumers start depending on it heavily.
